An easy doll skirt project

A fun and easy sewing craft - turning an old piece of clothing into something new for your doll to wear.

We started with an old skort that one of my girls use to wear.

Step one - cut out the shorts from underneath the skirt.

We did a quick test to see if we could just cut this one in half, but it looks like we'll need a bit more than half the skirt to fit around our doll.

We started on one side of the skirt and cut it open.

Next we pinned the skirt to our doll to see how much of the material we would actually need.

We pinned straight down so we'd know where to cut.

Next - cut away the extra fabric.

Line up the ends to stitch your pieces together. (You can pin them together if it makes it easier for you to stitch.)

Stitch a straight line down the skirt. (You can use a machine or do this by hand.) When stitching a piece together be sure to turn it inside-out so that the seams appears on the inside of the finished piece.

The finished skirt! I love the long boho feel of this one.
