Caroline Abbott 1812

I just saw a post from American Girl releasing the new historical character's date. Caroline Abbott is from 1812. The War of 1812 is often referred to as the second war of Independence. The U.S. was fighting for better trade conditions and freedoms from the British forces and Napoleon. "The Star Spangled Banner," our national anthem, was written by Francis Scott Key after one of the battles at Fort McHenry. The flag was raised to signal the fact that Americans beaten the British in the Battle of Baltimore. Perhaps Caroline will be from Baltimore. There were many separate battles in this war, several of which occurred between Michigan and Canada (so I'm hoping that Caroline is from my home state!)
